Jason Swanson is a wood artist, instructor, and demonstrator who has been a Wisconsin resident for over 38 years. Over the years he has been involved in many different aspects of woodworking including forestry, sawmilling and kiln drying, lumber, cabinetmaking, gallery furniture making and design, and woodturning. Jason's work has been displayed in galleries and has won numerous awards. But simply sawing down trees, drying lumber, and building wasn't enough to satisfy.
Jason wanted to others realize their woodworking dreams and passoins like he had so he started instructing various classes at his local Woodcraft store in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This led to further teaching/ demonstrating engagements at Folk Art Schools such as John C Campbell Folk Art School loacated in Brasstown, North Carolina as well as instructional workshops from his own studio or woodworking/woodturning clubs throughout the United States. He was a demonstrator at the Inagural 2008 TURN-ON! Chicago Symposium.
Jason is a member of the AAW (American Association of Woodturners), the IAP (International Association of Penturners), the Chicago Woodturners club, and has served on the Board of Directors and is the current President of the Milwaukee Area Woodturners: Jason has been quoated as saying, "If my eyes are open, chances are I'm doing something with wood." One might say he has dedicated his life to wood and helping others enjoy wood as much as he has.
